Aeon has closed a fresh pre-seed round that stands out for more than just the dollar amount, the round was led by Terra Industries, the Nigerian drone manufacturing and AI surveillance company that has itself become one of the country's most closely watched deep tech startups, signaling a rare instance of Nigerian tech companies backing each other directly rather than relying solely on traditional venture capital. The 1 million dollar round drew additional participation from Resilience17, DFS Labs, Kaleo Ventures, Seedstars, and Ajim Capital, giving Aeon a cap table stacked with both African focused funds and at least one operating peer with genuine hardware and security adjacent experience.
Founded by Samuel Ogbonyomi, Ben Eluan and Alex Idowu, Aeon has built its cybersecurity offering around two complementary products designed to give organizations visibility and protection across the full range of places modern attacks originate. Aeon Edge functions as a hardware security device positioned to protect networks at the physical infrastructure level, while Aeon Console operates as an AI-powered platform for monitoring and remediating vulnerabilities across code, cloud systems and endpoints, giving security teams a single place to spot weaknesses and respond before they become full breaches.

That combination of hardware and AI driven software addresses a gap that has become increasingly urgent across African financial services and cloud infrastructure. As digital banking, fintech platforms and cloud adoption accelerate across Nigeria, the attack surface facing financial institutions and infrastructure providers has grown correspondingly, while many organizations still lack the specialized in house security tooling that more mature markets take for granted. Aeon has already begun pilots with financial institutions and cloud infrastructure companies in Nigeria, positioning the company to test its product against exactly the kind of high stakes, compliance heavy environments where security failures carry outsized financial and reputational consequences.
The involvement of Terra Industries as lead investor carries symbolic weight beyond the capital itself. Terra has spent the past two years building credibility as one of Nigeria's most technically ambitious deep tech companies, and its decision to back Aeon suggests a level of conviction from operators who understand firsthand what it takes to build and scale hardware adjacent technology out of Nigeria, rather than purely financial backing from investors evaluating the deal from a distance.
With fresh capital now behind it and pilots already underway with financial and cloud infrastructure clients, Aeon's next phase will test whether it can convert those early engagements into paying commercial deployments at scale. For a market where cybersecurity incidents affecting financial institutions have become an increasingly visible risk, Aeon's bet is that combining physical network security hardware with AI powered software monitoring gives it a more complete answer than point solutions addressing only one layer of an organization's attack surface, a proposition its pilot customers are now actively testing in live environments.
