Tyms Is Powering Nigeria's AI for Business Wave, One Automated Ledger at a Time

Written By: Flipbz.org

Tyms has quickly carved out a name as one of Nigeria's most promising AI driven fintech startups, built around a problem that quietly cripples thousands of small businesses across the country: weak, outdated accounting. Founded in 2023 by software engineer Ibrahim Adepoju and chartered accountant Chineye Ochem, Tyms has rapidly become one of Africa's most promising AI driven accounting platforms, now serving businesses worldwide. The pairing of Adepoju's technical background with Ochem's accounting expertise has shaped a product built to give every business, from small startups to large enterprises, an intelligent financial companion that automates bookkeeping, ensures compliance and provides real time insights.

The idea behind Tyms was born out of frustration with the state of financial tools available to African businesses. Adepoju has explained that Tyms was founded upon the evaluation of financial accounting and bookkeeping software in the African market, and how substandard and weak they are compared to software from the developed world. That frustration has translated into a platform now trusted by CFOs, accountants, bookkeepers and business owners to manage bookkeeping, invoicing, payables, receivables, budgeting, bank reconciliation and inventory, all wrapped inside one AI powered dashboard that integrates directly with payment gateways like Paystack and Flutterwave.

The company's latest chapter centers on deeper automation. Tyms has been rolling out new AI capable features, including automatically uploading PDF bank statements to generate income statements, cutting out tedious manual entry that has long bogged down small business finance teams. The company also recently unveiled TAutomate, a feature presented for the first time at KPMG Nigeria, extending the platform's automation muscle even further into enterprise finance workflows. Beyond the product itself, Adepoju has described a bigger long term vision for the company, one where its infrastructure, referred to internally as Lehjah, becomes the financial backbone for businesses globally, enabling seamless collaboration between money movement and accounting in one intelligent layer.

That ambition has attracted a solid backing bench too. Tyms is backed by a strong network of investors and partners, including Tekedia Capital, Seedstars and Google for Startups, giving it both capital and credibility as it scales across Nigeria and other African markets. As Nigeria's AI for business software wave accelerates, with more SMEs and enterprises embracing automation to fix inefficient financial operations, Tyms is positioning itself at the center of that shift, betting that the next generation of African businesses will run their books not with spreadsheets and guesswork, but with intelligent software built specifically for how Africa actually does business.
