SecVite has one of the more genuinely personal origin stories in Nigerian tech this year, and it is exactly that personal frustration that shaped the product now chasing pre-seed funding less than a year after launch. Founder Hameed Yusuf originally built the platform to manage his own wedding, a project born out of the chaos that typically defines Nigerian celebrations, where invitations, guest approvals, RSVPs, ticketing and gifting are usually scattered across WhatsApp groups, spreadsheets, and paper lists that rarely stay in sync with each other.

What started as a personal tool launched publicly in October 2025 as a full mobile first event management platform, bringing event creation, invitations, guest approvals, RSVPs, ticketing, payments, QR code check-ins and digital gifting into one connected system. That breadth matters because it addresses an entire event lifecycle rather than solving just one piece of it, letting hosts manage everything from who is invited to how guests pay for tickets to how gifting happens on the day itself, all without juggling multiple disconnected tools.


The growth since that October launch has been steady rather than explosive, but notable for a bootstrapped product still finding its footing. By August 2026, SecVite had passed 600 users, a milestone that pushed the company to begin actively seeking pre-seed funding to scale beyond its current base and build out the infrastructure needed to support significantly more events and hosts.

Alongside that user growth, the product itself has kept evolving. SecVite has rolled out an AI event copilot designed to help hosts manage the logistics and decision making that come with planning celebrations, alongside improvements to offline check-in functionality, an important addition given that many Nigerian event venues still contend with unreliable internet connectivity that could otherwise disrupt QR code based guest check-ins on the day of an event. The platform has also introduced its Spray & Gift feature, a digital take on the culturally significant practice of spraying money and giving gifts at Nigerian celebrations, translating a deeply rooted social tradition into a format that works within a digital event platform.

That focus on culturally specific features, building for how Nigerian weddings and celebrations actually function rather than adapting a generic global event platform, is what sets SecVite apart in a category where most event management tools are built around Western conference and corporate event use cases. With pre-seed funding now the company's immediate priority, SecVite's next chapter will test whether a product born out of one founder's wedding planning headache can scale into infrastructure for the thousands of weddings, parties and celebrations that happen across Nigeria every week.
