GodoFreda has arrived with a bold framing: Africa moves an enormous amount of global trade every year, yet almost none of that trade runs on infrastructure the continent controls. Developed by Nigerian logistics and supply chain company Aimpexx, the platform lets buyers discover, vet and order from verified factories and vendors around the world without a broker standing between them and the source. The company describes itself succinctly as a social commerce platform that connects buyers directly with verified factories and vendors worldwide, using video product feeds, live launches, secure checkout and real time order tracking to remove the intermediaries that have traditionally sat between traders and manufacturers.
The founding story behind GodoFreda is deeply personal. Aimpexx founder and CEO Olayanju Ifeoluwa said the platform was inspired by his own experience of losing a shipment while sourcing goods internationally, explaining that he lost a container to learn what this market loses every day, not the money but the trust. That frustration became the company's central thesis: Ifeoluwa said Africa participates in approximately 1.4 trillion dollars in annual trade flows but remains largely dependent on foreign controlled trade infrastructure, arguing that Africa has always been on the map of global trade, but was just never the one holding the pen.
What makes GodoFreda's approach distinct is how it borrows from consumer social media rather than traditional B2B software. The company said the platform allows buyers to discover, verify and order products from factories through a social media style interface built around short form video content, live product demonstrations and integrated ordering. Instead of static catalogues and forwarded price lists, manufacturers can publish product videos while buyers follow factories, watch launches and place orders inside the same interface, a discovery experience borrowing the visual language a generation of Nigerian and African traders already speaks fluently, applied to a category long buried in outdated paperwork.
Crucially, GodoFreda is not launching as a standalone experiment but as a layer built on existing infrastructure. The company describes itself as a discovery and ordering layer built on a fulfilment operation that already exists, already has staff on both ends of the route, and understands the challenges traders face, drawing on Aimpexx's established work in sourcing, supplier payment, quality inspection, manufacturing coordination and freight services between Asia and West Africa, with operations running out of Lagos and Guangzhou.
The timing behind the launch lines up with real pain points Nigerian businesses are feeling right now. The launch comes as Nigerian importers continue to grapple with foreign exchange volatility, rising freight costs, and tighter profit margins, thereby increasing demand for more transparent and efficient sourcing channels to reduce supply chain costs. With intra African and global trade infrastructure becoming an increasingly urgent conversation under frameworks like AfCFTA, GodoFreda's factory direct, video first model is positioning itself as one of the more distinctive attempts yet to give African traders a bigger seat at a table long dominated by intermediaries.
